Blog post #15 By Jo Rodriguez
I captured this photo as I left my home state of Texas and I think it captures what was in my mind so perfectly at that moment. A great deal of thought and conversations went into taking this big step of leaving the home, family, and friends we have always known. The last 2 years have been filled with so much personal growth and inspiration as my path to healing opened me up to the calling to help others. I put my faith completely in our maker’s hands each day trusting in him for giving me the chance to survive what so many don’t.
We dissected that God put this in our plan and embraced our path moving forward. I knew that my calling to help others would be in our lives always and that no matter what our futures held, we would always listen. As we crossed the Texas border and looked at the endless road ahead, we held hands knowing and trusting in our faith and love that we are stronger together and can do whatever we set our minds to.
This moment was bittersweet, filled with excitement, sadness, apprehension, and anticipation. I see it as this is the next step in my path to continue to do good in this world no matter where I call home is as I stop looking back and focus on the road ahead.
